1,500 Runners from 27 States and Abroad Participate in Kashmir Marathon 2025

Around 1,500 runners representing 27 states of India and several foreign countries participated in the Kashmir Marathon 2025. Participants from Germany, Denmark, the United States of America, Ethiopia, Japan, and other nations took part in the event.

The second edition of the Kashmir Marathon 2025 was flagged off from Srinagar on Sunday, with the race conducted at the Polo View Ground. The marathon was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.

Foreign athletes who took part in the marathon praised the tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir, calling it one of the most beautiful marathon routes in the world.

The event featured both 42 km full marathon and 21 km half marathon categories, with a prize pool announced for the winners.

Earlier on Saturday, Director of Kashmir Tourism, Raja Yaqoob, said the marathon reflects the unshakeable spirit of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that terrorism cannot break Kashmir’s determination to move forward. “After the barbaric Pahalgam incident, this is the first major event, and through this, we are sending a strong message of peace and positivity to the world,” he said.

In addition, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with ministers and celebrities, also participated in the marathon. Locals turned out in large numbers to cheer for the runners along the scenic Boulevard Road.
