Hyderabad-Bengaluru Bus Catches Fire Following Collision With a Motorcycle; Revives Memories of Deadly 2013 Accident
Atleast, 20 people have lost their lives after a bus belonging to Private Kaveri Travels collided with a motorcycle, leading to a major fire incident.
The bus, which was on its way from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, was carrying 40 passengers. When it hit the motorcycle, flames erupted inside the vehicle. As a result, 20 persons, including the bike rider, were burnt alive during the incident.
This unfortunate road accident took place in Chinnu Tekuru village of Kurnool district early this morning, according to media reports.
As per a Times of India report, the bodies of 11 persons were recovered from the charred vehicle. Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Siri confirmed that 21 people have been traced; however, the bodies of nine victims are yet to be identified.
Earlier, DIG Koya Praveen stated that the fire was triggered by the collision of the bus with the motorcycle. Inside the bus, there were combustible materials that fueled the blaze. Several questions have now arisen regarding fire safety protocols and emergency measures.
According to reports, twelve people died within minutes in the blaze, while many others sustained injuries. Due to the jamming of the bus door, several passengers could not escape.
This horrific accident has revived memories of the 2013 Mahbubnagar bus fire, which also occurred on the same Hyderabad–Bengaluru route, killing 45 passengers.
