Surge in UPI Transactions by ₹94,000 Crore Daily in October
Amid the festive season, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions have witnessed a significant boom, rising by 13 percent to reach ₹94,000 crore daily, according to data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
UPI, which accounts for nearly 85% of all digital payments in India, has recorded a massive increase in daily transaction volumes. This marks one of the strongest month-on-month growth trends for UPI transactions in recent years.
With the Diwali festive season underway, the surge has crossed 740 million transactions, following a spike witnessed during the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.
It is expected that monthly transactions will surpass ₹28 lakh crore for the first time, breaking the current record of ₹25 lakh crore.
As of October 20, 2025, daily UPI transactions have crossed ₹1 lakh crore on six occasions this month, effectively doubling the usual transaction volume.
