North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile Toward Eastern Waters: South Korean Military
As South Korea prepares to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference, where major global leaders will gather in Gyeongju for talks next week, North Korea has fired a ballistic missile.
According to a statement from South Korea’s military, North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward its eastern waters. However, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff have not revealed details about how far the weapon flew or where it landed.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Conference will see the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and other world leaders.
Earlier, the North Korean president displayed a new long-range missile during a massive military parade in Pyongyang, attended by top leaders from China, Russia, and other nations. The parade marked the 80th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers’ Party.
INTERCARGO Calls for Constructive Dialogue Following IMO’s Net Zero Framework Decision
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has strengthened his diplomatic credentials by sharing the stage with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military parade in Beijing last month.
Reports indicate that North Korea has intensified its efforts to build an arsenal capable of attacking the United States and its regional rivals in Asia, as part of an increasingly provocative nuclear program.
